1986-1990: These are some of my better early poems. If I wrote poems like this today I might not be happy with them. Nevertheless I think they have a strength and character of their own and are worth including if only to compare with my later work.

Missing (The dragging hunger)

Well I’ve got you here in voice
I can get you anytime I want!
For a short time of joy
Only to be followed by the dragging hunger.
Well I’ve got you here in image
Oh yes! I can see the image
Reading expressions into it.

The dragging hunger
Yes!
And tonight,
tonight it is another year.
Eons!
It seems like
While you stay away.
Return!
And I will get so close
I will breathe your sweat!
And end the dragging hunger.
