Janet Jackson’s residency at FAWWA: workshops, free Poetry Kitchen

For 4 weeks from 21 May I will be writer-in-residence at the beautifully restored Mattie Furphy House for the Fellowship of Australian Writers WA.

The residency is funded (thanks to CAL for the money and Trisha and Pat for doing the unpleasant task of applying for it), which means my Poetry Kitchen critiquing and writing sessions on Wednesday mornings will be free during the residency.

I’ll be doing two poetry writing workshops:

During the residency FAWWA members may book me for poetry manuscript assessments and mentoring. Contact FAWWA for details.

‘I am your sunlight’ recorded by Swedish choir

Mikael Carlsson has created a choral version of my poem I am your sunlight for his production ‘Rainbow Suite’, which includes the work of poets from various countries. ‘Rainbow Suite’ has been performed and recorded by Swedish choir Haga Motettkör.

Hear samples and buy the MP3s or CD from Amazon. The liner notes include the text of the poems.

The music is to be published by Santa Barbara Music Publishing.

Transgressive Tuesday Poem

Today is a Tuesday and Jennifer Compton, although surely still jetlagged from her intensive visit to our Western Australian poetry festival, has published one of my poems on Tuesday Poem and on her blog Stillcraic.

Go and see

Jen’s word for this poem was ‘transgressive’. I like.
